Connections: Palm Sunday
We have journeyed all the way (nearly!) through Lent! This is an accomplishment! To continue a practice or discipline for 40 days… it is no easy task, but it is my hope that your practice or discipline has been edifying. It is my hope that your practice or discipline is giving you refreshed eyes to see God and Christ’s Love in the world, that it is strengthening your resolve and commitment to Love, that it is expanding your soul and being to connect with more of God’s beloved world.
It is most appropriate that this season of Lent leads us directly into Palm Sunday. To remember who we are and return to such integrity (repentance) prepares us to follow Christ. What do we see on Palm Sunday but the movement of Christ into the center of all things - to transform and redeem - and a crowd of people who desired to join in this holy procession and journey of healing, mending, and redeeming.
The narrative reveals it all. In remembering who we are as Children of God, we long for nothing more than to follow the very revelation of God’s Love - to be known as one who would follow, as one who would bind her/himself to Love, as one who would even come to Love when it is costly and sacrificial.
May we be prepared to commit to the ongoing movement of God’s Love as it reveals itself in our worship this Sunday, and as it is revealed before us each day.
Grace and Peace,
Chi-Rho will meet this Sunday from 11:30-1 PM.

Holy Week in Focus: Maundy Thursday
“Maundy” is the English form of the Latin word meaning, “commandment.” Jesus’ new commandment to “Love one another as I have Loved you” is the focus of Maundy Thursday. ~ From the UCC Book of Worship
This coming Thursday, April 13th, we will gather in the fellowship hall at 6:00 for a potluck meal and worship. The service has been created by some of the Elders to move us deeper into the events of that evening: the foot washing, the breaking of bread and the sharing of the cup, the betrayal, and the giving of the new commandment. Gracious members of the church have volunteered to serve as actors in a beautiful drama that will tell the story and lead us into that element of worship. This is something new and very special to reveal the holiness of the day within this most holy week.
Come, bring a friend, bring a dish, and share in fellowship and worship!
Holy Week in Focus: Good Friday
Good Friday relays the passion story of our Savior Jesus Christ. While the mood is solemn, it is also one of hope, looking forward to the great Easter celebration. ~ From the UCC Book of Worship
Friday, April 14th, we have the blessing of hosting the ecumenical Good Friday worship service. This is but one way we welcome and host the community in faithful expression. The service is crafted by Father Chris McCann of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. The service will begin at noon and conclude at 3:00pm. It is a service that repeats a pattern of scripture, homily (by a different clergy member), prayer, hymn. Jean Spangler will be our organist. Clergy from St. Luke’s Episcopal, St. Mary’s Catholic, Celebration Lutheran, Chardon United Methodist and Burton UCC will lead us in faithful meditation upon the last words of Christ. As the service is long, it is created for you to come in as you are able and depart when you must. This is a blessing to participate in the ecumenical faith body and welcome others to the most challenging day within Holy Week, understanding that there is something good to come when we do not avoid or evade suffering, but confront and endure it.
Come, bring a friend, and share in this time of worship.
Easter is a time of rejoicing and celebration, and our choir has something special in store for the occasion. If you would like to rejoice on this day with the choir, you are welcome to come and practice with the choir (Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday mornings @ 9AM in the sanctuary). No obligation to join long-term, just come and be a part of the celebration on Easter Sunday.
Directory pictures will be taken by Bill Arotin on April 9 and 23. These will be the last sessions for the Directory.
Chi-Rho (4-8th graders) will gather this Sunday following worship (11:30-1:00pm) with Heather, Vickie, and Chris for lunch and a joyous egging! Real eggs will not be used - that is not the intention of this youth activity. But it is a creative and fun opportunity to serve and love our neighbors and friends.
Thursday, April 13th is our day to provide a delicious meal to our brothers and sisters at Project Hope. If you would like to participate by providing a dish, please connect with Linda and Bill Arotin.
On Monday, May 8th at 6 PM Women's Fellowship will host Bunco for the Food Pantry at Barbara Inderlied's home. Supper will be provided.
Office volunteers are needed for June 5-9 and 12-14 to answer phones.
The office is also in need of someone to complete administrative tasks during that time. They do not need to be completed during office hours. Please contact Cheryl in the office if you are available to help.
