December 21, 2017
Invite your family and friends to join us on Christmas Eve, Sunday, December 24 at 7:00 pm for carols, scripture, and lighting of candles as we celebrate the birth of the Messiah.
Our Sunday morning 10:00 am worship service on December 24th will include the lighting of the Joy candle on the Advent wreath. The scripture reading is from the Gospel of Luke 1:26-38. This is the visitation by the angel Gabriel to Mary with the news that she will give birth to the Messiah.
If you have donated a poinsettia, you can take it home with you after the 10:00 am service or the 7:00 pm service this Sunday. Those that remain will be shared with folks as a gift from our church.
My wife Martha and I will make our annual jaunt to the Cumberland Plateau of Tennessee to be with her family the week after Christmas. Martha is from Crossville about 45 miles west of Knoxville. We will drive there on the 26th and be back for worship here on the 31st. After I leave here on Thursday the 21st, I will pick up my daughter Molly in Akron to take her to the airport to fly to St. Louis to be with our daughter Kate. They will drive to Crossville on the 26th as well. Our dogs Winston and Crosby will be at home with a friend of our's who dog/house sits for us. If I need to be reached during that week, you can call Cheryl in the office or call me on my cell number or email me. Even though I have been here a short time, I felt a warmth of the spirit of Christ with this community. Martha and I wish you all a blessed and holy Christmas.
Grace and peace,
David Loar, Pastor

MISSIONS: GIVING TREE
Missions thanks the congregation for its generosity involving The Giving Tree. You helped a family starting out from Project Hope and another from WomenSafe. You gave so that children of prisoners could receive presents from their incarcerated parents. You supported Texas families and helped in their recovery after the hurricane. Last, but not least, you also gave to the hurricane victims in Puerto Rico. We thank you for helping us celebrate Jesus’ birthday! When we give to others less fortunate, we are giving to Him! (You gave over $1500!) Thank you!
The Annual Congregational Meeting will be held Sunday, January 21, 2018 following the 10:00 am worship service.
