It is always a blessing to engage in conversation with one another upon the questions that truly shape us. Last Sunday, beneath the pavilion, it was this practice of conversation and theological work upon the question, “What does it mean to embrace the concept/idea of God as ‘Creator’?” that revealed a deep wisdom within you and the congregation. Reflections upon this question touched on how the gifts of Creation elicit gratitude to the Creator, a sense of mystery to ponder “Why” God would Create such bothersome beings as mosquitoes or “the people that populate that other political party, which must not be named,” and the wonder of universality to understand each and every “thing” and each and every “one” as Created by the Creator (and what that means for us to see and honor that). Gratitude, Mystery, Wonder and Love; that is incredible theological work from a meager question.
May we continue to engage one another, listen to one another, and discover together more about this God and who this God creates and calls us to be.
Vacation Bible School was a great success! The children had fun, and
so did all the volunteers. We were able to donate 14 'boo-boo"
bunnies to the food cupboard. The children also enjoyed sharing their
favorite things from VBS during worship in the park.
If anyone is interested in helping to clean the Sunday school rooms,
please let me know when you're available. We'll probably schedule one
weekday and one Saturday for cleaning.
NEEDS - We are looking for a play house for the nursery (we'd prefer
one that hasn't been left outside), a play cash register, paint
shirts, and bean bag chairs. If you would like to donate any of these
items, please contact me or the office.
Looking ahead: Aug. 14th - Pioneer Waterland
Aug. 28th - volunteers needed for both the
nursery and 4/5s
Sept. 11th - Rally Sunday & youth group
meeting after church
Volunteers for August 14th

4/5s - Marianne Stoltz and Bekah Brozic

Scriptura: The Great Big Bible Study will resume Wednesday, August 24, entering into 1 and 2 Maccabees.
Rev. Paul Durbin will be present this Sunday, August 14th, to join Pilgrim Christian Church in worship and to preach. He and Michaelene have a special place in the life of our congregation - Dr. Durbin served as an interim minister and graced the congregation with many gifts and a loving spirit that have strengthened this body. Come and welcome them both and enjoy this time of worship and fellowship together.
Thank you to Men’s Fellowship for providing a fantastic breakfast Sunday morning at Worship in the Park! It is a lot of work to purchase the food, haul the grills, do the cooking, and clean up, but they did it all. Thank you!!!
We are trying to update our directory. The new directory will be placed in the Fellowship Hall for updates through Labor Day. Please take a moment to review and correct information. If you are not listed and would like to be added please add your name. If you are unable to review the directory please email the office with your information so that we may verify if it is correct.
BLESSING OF THE BACKPACKS
Sunday, August 21st, we’ll share in a time of prayer with our students who are going back to school! If you feel so inclined, have your child(rem) bring their backpacks to worship that morning and during the Children’s Sermon, we’ll talk about the excitement, the fun, and any concerns they have heading back to school; we’ll honor it all in prayer and share a blessing for the backpacks and the children who carry them!
