Connections: Love and Shelter.
Today’s connection is a simple word of encouragement:
Who do you know that is in need of shelter in this time?
What can you offer to meet, care, and welcome him/her/them?
The call to welcome, care for, and stand with the poor, meek, and vulnerable continues to come to us.
How can you - how can we as Pilgrim Christian Church - respond?
On Friday, December 9th, we are hosting dinner and a movie for
children age 3 and older from 6 to 8:30 pm. We'll be holding this
upstairs in the Sunday School rooms. Heather Penrod is making mac and
cheese, and we'll also have pb and j sandwiches, veggies, and cookies
for dessert. We'd like a tentative head count so, if possible, let me
know that your child will be attending.
The Christmas pageant is fast approaching. Practice will be held on
Saturday, Dec. 17th from 9:30 am to noon. We'll be assigning parts
and costumes that day and then running through the pageant several
times. If your children or grandchildren would like to participate
but are unable to attend practice, please let me know, and we'll be
sure they have a part to play. The pageant will take place during the
worship service on Dec. 18th.
Looking ahead: Dec. 17 - pageant practice
Dec. 18 - Christmas pageant

Mission: The Gift of Water. The Gift of Life.
Throughout December, the Mission Team is providing the congregation with a great gift idea: water bottles that come with a donation to Church World Service to provide a Well-Pump to a community. This gift is a symbol of a $10 donation to CWS that will bring safe, clean water to families. As we know so well, water is life. Our goal is to raise $500 this way (that’s 50 bottles!). The cost of a Well-Pump is $1,000 and the Mission Team is providing $500 to start us off at the half-way point. If you are looking for a stocking stuffer or that gift for under the tree for someone who is seeking to bring life into the world, consider making a donation of $10 and sharing the gift of water this Christmas.
Water bottles are located in the Fellowship Hall and a donation can be made to the Church - please note that the donation is for the “well-pump.”
Caroling on the Square
Please join us Saturday, December 10th at 10 AM for Caroling on the Square. We will meet at the church and then begin caroling on the Square from 10 AM - 11 AM.
This Sunday, Chi-Rho is hitting the road to go to the Cleveland Museum of Art. It’s the Second Sunday celebration with Merry Making for the whole family. We will depart from PCC at 11:45, arrive to the CMA, eat lunch at the cafe, attend the Merry Making, and then take a tour of art featuring depictions of the nativity and Christ child. What a way to celebrate the season!
Olympic Brass Concert
Mark your calendars on Decembers 16, 2016, at 7:30 for when the wonderful
Olympic Brass brings their popular “Silver Bells” holiday concert to Geauga County again!
Pilgrim Christian Church is hosting this beloved concert of carols, classics and sing-a-longs the whole family will love. Olympic Brass provides audiences with an incomparable experience, performing fresh arrangements written by members of the group and playing a wide array of historical and unique instruments.
This not-so-traditional quintet is composed of five of the most accomplished musicians in Northeast Ohio: Amanda Bekeny (trumpet); Eric Dina (trumpet); Greg Hillis (horn); Eric Rowles (trombone); and J.c. Sherman (tuba). You may learn more by visiting their website: http://www.jcsherman.net/olympic-brass
Thanks to all who donated food and time to make the Chili dinner a success. We made over $570 from the dinner. As this was an event for our community and the community enjoys the steeple, we are donating this money to the Steeple fund to help cover the unexpected expenses. We made an additional $259 on the “Bake Sale To Go” planned by Lynn Felberg and Jeanne Osborne-Felberg, new members. Pat Martin, another new member purchased the remainder of the table and donated it to last Sunday’s Coffee Hour. Thanks you! This money went to the Women ’s Group and will be used for church projects..
The Membership Committee, with the expertise of new member Ginger Hannon, has produced a tri-fold with information about the activities of Pilgrim Christian Church. Please encourage guests to take them and, if you would like to share our church with someone, please take one too!
There will be a Congregational Meeting following Worship service on December 18th to present a proposed budget and the proposed new officers' names.
Welcoming Our Guest Organist
Fern Jennings will be our guest organist for the next 3 weeks while Ann Doersam is away. Fern is the retired Director of Music and Organist for the First Unitarian Church of Cleveland. She has a degree in Organ Performance in the Joint Program of the Cleveland Institute of Music at Case Western Reserve. She is currently enjoying the variety and flexibility as serving as a substitute organist.
Stewardship Campaign Materials
Having heard from a few people who did not receive the Pony Express materials, the Stewardship Team has prepared hard copies of the materials to be taken home. If you would like to receive the materials to consider pledging to the ministry of Pilgrim Christian Church in 2017, please stop into or contact the office. 440.285.8791 or PCC@ChardonPCC.org
